CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESGUITIGN OF 11PPRECIRTION
TO
SRA. BLANCA PORTILLO
WHEREAS, Sra. Blanca Portillo has been active in San Rafael as a 15 -year resident in the
Canal neighborhood, and a three-year member of the Marin Tenants Union;
and
WHEREAS, in September, 2005, Blanca was appointed by the San Rafael City Council to
the Canal Stakeholder Committee, which was charged with preparing a
recommended Transportation Plan for the Canal neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Blanca served as a representative of the residents in the Canal neighborhood,
sharing her knowledge of the issues of people who walk in the neighborhood
and commute by bus to work; and
WHEREAS, Blanca dedicated a year to a community-based planning effort to working
with Canal residents and business leaders to identify transportation concerns
and recommended improvements that will improve the quality of life in the
Canal neighborhood.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council hereby express
sincere appreciation and gratitude to Sra. Blanca Portillo for her substantial contributions to
prepare the Canal Transportation Plan.
