MAURICE M. WOLOHAN
WHEREAS, Maurice Wolohan, Director of Housing Rehabilitation and Development, joined Marin
Housing in 1980; and
WHEREAS, the Housing Rehabilitation and Development division has helped provide safe and sanitary
housing to over 600 low income Marin County residents through the rehabilitation loan
program; and
WHEREAS, the Housing Rehabilitation and Development division has issued 380 Federal mortgage
credit certificates to assist low income and moderate income persons purchase homes in
Marin County; and
WHEREAS, the affordable ownership program, developed and managed by Mr. Wolohan, is recognized
Statewide by housing agencies and developers and has conducted over 500 home sales to
low and moderate income families in Marin County; and
WHEREAS, the Housing Rehabilitation and Development division has operated San Rafael's low and
moderate income home ownership program since 1985 and has been responsible for the sale
and resale of the 114 affordable ownership units in San Rafael; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wolohan has been fair and objective in applying the program standards and his calm
demeanor has greatly reduced the anxiety of many first time homebuyers; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wolohan has been an invaluable resource to the staff of the City Attorney, the
Community Development Department and the Economic Development Department, and has
been instrumental in assuring that San Rafael remains a leader in affordable housing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council hereby express sincere
appreciation and gratitude to Maurice Wolohan for his twenty-six years of se to to the residents of Marin
County and San Rafael, and wish him well in his retirement endeavors.
