SUPERVISOR CYNTHIA MURRAY
WHEREAS, Supervisor Cynthia Murray was elected to the Marin County Board of
Supervisors in November 1998 to represent the Fifth District which
encompasses Northern Marin. Supervisor Murray has concentrated her efforts
on many important issues including transportation, public safety, seniors and
economic vitality; and
WHEREAS, Supervisor Murray chairs the Disaster and Citizen Corps Council, and is
Director of Emergency Services. She is committed to public safety
improvements and works closely with law enforcement and firefighters; and
WHEREAS, Supervisor Murray serves on the Golden Gate Bridge District Board, and chairs
the Policy Advisory Group for CalTrans on the Marin -Sonoma Narrows project.
Supervisor Murray was the Chair of the successful Measure A campaign for a
Transportation Sales Tax that Marin voters passed in November 2004; and
WHEREAS, Supervisor Murray is very concerned about maintaining the independence,
quality of life and mobility of our seniors. She chaired the Chronic Disease
Management Task Force, and was instrumental in bringing Project
Independence to life; and
WHEREAS, Supervisor Murray is an exceptional civic -minded public leader who has
consistently tackled each issue with a balanced approach, energy, determination
and a "can -do" attitude; and
WHEREAS, Supervisor Cynthia Murray has listened to and been a friend of the cities of
Marin County and has demonstrated a balanced approach when dealing with the
issues concerning the cities and the County of Marin.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael
hereby commend and thank Supervisor Cynthia Murray for her eight years of dedicated service on
the Marin County Board of Supervisors, and for her tireless and selfless eff its on behalf of the
residents of the County of Marin.
