A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
RAFAEL SUPPORTING A GRANT APPLICATION FOR BAY
AREA AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT DISTRICT
TRANSPORTATION FUND FOR CLEAN AIR FUNDS FOR THE
"SAN RAFAEL BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN MASTER PLAN
IMPLEMENTATION PROJECT", AND IDENTIFYING THE
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS AS THE INDIVIDUAL
AUTHORIZED TO SUBMIT AND CARRY OUT THE PROPOSAL.
WHEREAS, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District is soliciting
applications for their Transportation Fund for Clean Air Regional Fund grant program; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael Department of Public Works has
submitted a $150,000 grant application for the "San Rafael Bicycle and Pedestrian Master
Plan Implementation Project"; and
process; and
WHEREAS, Governing body support is a requirement of the application
WHEREAS, the application, if approved, would enable City staff to begin
the process of constructing 48 short term bicycle segments throughout San Rafael, those
which require only signing and striping;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
approves the filing of an application for the Bay Area Air Quality Management District
TFCA funds, and identifies Andrew Preston as the staff member authorized to submit and
carry out the proposal.

certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a
regular meeting of the Council of said City on Monday, the 18th day of July, 2005, by the
following vote, to wit:
