A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
RESCINDING RESOLUTION 11809 AND AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY
CLOSURE OF A CITY STREET FOR THE CANAL WELCOME CENTER
CULTURAL CELEBRATION AND ANNIVERSARY
ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2005 FROM 9:00 A.M. TO 6:00 P.M.
(Alto Street from Larkspur Street to Belvedere Street)
WHEREAS, the City Council approved Resolution 11809 authorizing a temporary street closure for the
Canal Welcome Center Anniversary celebration on July 31, 2005; and
WHEREAS, the Canal Welcome Center postponed the event to September 18, 2005; and
WHEREAS, the Canal Welcome Center Anniversary Celebration requires a temporary street closure on
September 18, 2005:
Street to be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.:
1. Alto Street from Larkspur Street to Belvedere Street; and
WHEREAS, after reviewing plans for the event and the traffic patterns, City staff has determined and
recommended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian and auto traffic in the Canal area,
the above street should be temporarily closed to through traffic for the date and time described above.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL HEREBY RESOLVES AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That all of the above findings are true and correct;
2. That Resolution 11809 is hereby rescinded;
3. That, pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety and protection
of persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City Council hereby authorizes the temporary
closure of the above listed street for the date and time described above.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCI I, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of San Rafael, held on Monday, August 1, 2005, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers: Cohen, Heller, Miller, Phillips & Mayor Boro
NOES: Councilmembers: None
ABSENT: Councilmembers: None
