HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 11839 (Proclamation Make a Difference Day)RESOLUTION NO. 11839 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL PROCLAIMING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2005 AS MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY IN SAN RAFAEL WHEREAS, millions of Americans across the country will spend Saturday, October 22, 2005, the 15'h Make a Difference Day, doing volunteer projects to improve their communities and help neighbors in need; and WHEREAS, serious environmental problems concern our nation and threaten its future while costing communities millions of dollars each year as cities strive to clean up its streets; and WHEREAS, the new San Rafael Clean Campaign, a coalition of the Marin Conservation Corps, Marin Sanitary Service and the City of San Rafael, was formed to educate and inspire the residents, organizations and businesses of San Rafael on how to reduce, reuse and recycle waste; and WHEREAS, reducing waste, recycling and local cleanups can foster community pride and a sense of civic awareness; and WHEREAS, the San Rafael Clean Campaign in conjunction with Make a Difference Day hopes to engage 1,000 volunteers in its massive cleanup project throughout the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael do hereby proclaim October 22, 2005 as Make a Difference Day in San Rafael, California, and urge its residents to observe this day by volunteering with family, friends, neighbors, schools and civic groups in the San Rafael Clean Campaign citywide cleanup. I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, City Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of said City on the 3rd day of October, 2005 by the following vote, to wit: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Cohen, Heller, Miller, Phillips and Mayor Boro NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: None JeRu�e M.
