HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 11860 (Traffic Grant Funds)RESOLUTION NO. 11860 RESOLUTION OF THE SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL APPROVING USE OF STATE OF CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF TRAFFIC GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $194,362.62 FOR "AVOID THE MARIN 13" DUI ENFORCEMENT CAMPAIGN DURING THE WINTER HOLIDAY, MEMORIAL DAY AND LABOR DAY ENFORCEMENT PERIODS FROM FEBRUARY 2006 THROUGH JANUARY 2009 Whereas, the State of California, Office of Traffic Safety granted the City of San Rafael $194,362.62 in grant funds; and, Whereas, this grant money may be spent to pay costs associated with the "Avoid the Marin 13" holiday DUI enforcement campaign; and, Whereas, the City of San Rafael will coordinate with the nine municipal law enforcement agencies, the College of Marin, the Marin County Sheriff's office and the California Highway Patrol to conduct checkpoints and strike teams during the Winter Holiday, Memorial Day and Labor Day holiday enforcement periods from February 2006 through January 2009; and, Whereas, the Department will use those funds for overtime personnel costs, reimbursement to allied agencies, publicity, educational material, checkpoint supplies and small equipment; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council approves the use of $194,362.62 in grant funds. I, Jeanne M. Leoncini, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the San Rafael City Council meeting held on the 21th day of November, 2005 by the following vote, to wit: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Cohen, Heller, Miller, Phillips & Mayor Boro NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: None JE NNE M.
