CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOWITION OF dPPRECIdTION
TO
ROD GOULD
WHEREAS, Rod Gould came to the City of San Rafael in June of 1996, bringing with him unparalleled
passion, leadership and vision; and
WHEREAS, Rod has worked tirelessly with San Rafael's residents and businesses to build a healthy, vibrant
and progressive community, one that will thrive well into the future; and
WHEREAS, As City Manager, Rod played a vital role in many initiatives and projects, among them the
economic and cultural revitalization of our Downtown, improved quality of life and supported
community inspired initiatives in the Canal Neighborhood, and the recent passage of Measure S,
the tax initiative that will help to provide financial stability and the continuation of essential
community services for all San Rafael citizens; and
WHEREAS, Rod guided numerous capital projects during his nine years: San Rafael City Plaza, completion
of Andersen Drive, 101 Pump Station Rebuild, San Rafael Corporate Center, the Public Works
Headquarters, Terra Linda Community Pool, Parkside Child Care Center, 3rd @ C Street Parking
Garage, Mahon Creek Bike Path, Renovations to Boyd, Freitas, Bernard Hoffman, Shoreline, Los
Ranchitos, Bret Harte and Gerstle Parks, spurred the development of the Pickleweed Community
Center Expansion and Renovation, resurfaced over 100 miles of City streets and countless
infrastructure upgrades, and
WHEREAS, Rod's professionalism extends even beyond the bounds of our City, as evidenced by his active
role in the League of California Cities and as a teacher at the University level; and
WHEREAS, To belabor the obvious, without "Rockin" Rod, the pace of life around City Hall may never be
the sameI
NOW, THEREFORE, BEITRESOL VTO that the City Council of the City of San Rafael hereby expresses its
gratitude to Rod Gould for 91/z years of dynamic leadership and service to the Mayor and City Council, City staff
and most importantly, members of the San Rafael community.
FURTHERBEITRESOLVED, that on behalf of the entire San Rafael community we wish him much success as the
new City Manager in the City of Poway.
