HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 11530 (Appreciation Arnold Juge)RESOLUTION NO. 11530 �• CITY OF SAN RAFAEL PRESENTS THIS RESOUNION OF &PPRECIdTION TO Sergeant Arnold E. Juge WHEREAS, Arnold "Arnie" Juge has been a Peace Officer for over 32 years; having joined our police department in March of 1977, after serving San Francisco as a Police Officer for five years; and WHEREAS, Arnie, a San Rafael resident himself, tirelessly protects the community he calls home; first as an Officer, then promoted to Corporal in 1982 and Sergeant in 1985; he served in Patrol, as a burglary Detective and, most recently, as Supervisor of the Traffic Unit; and WHEREAS, Arnie is responsible for planning and implementing crowd and traffic control at major events such as the Marin County Fair, Farmers' Market, Italian Street Painting Festival and Classic Car Parade, as well as all other parades, protests and public demonstrations, thus ensuring public safety at those functions; and WHEREAS, Arnie managed the countywide "Avoid the Marin 13" education and enforcement campaign against drunk driving, successfully reducing the number of alcohol related injuries and deaths due to drinking and driving in Marin County; and WHEREAS, as a member of the Hostage Negotiations Team, Arnie responds to situations to convince criminals or suicidal people to surrender peaceably so that public safety is protected without having to resort to the use of force; and WHEREAS, all those who know Arnie recognize him to be a gentleman of utmost integrity, humility, devotion and responsibility, with an overwhelming sense of fair play; he is in the truest sense of the word — a Peace Officer. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the City of San Rafael hereby designate Sergeant Arnold E. Juge as Employee of the first Quarter of 2004 and express sincere appreciation to Arnie for his dedication and outstanding service to the City of San Rafael.
