A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE SAN
FRANCISCO FOUNDATION FOR $17,500 TO FUND THE
CONTINUATION OF THE CANAL YOUTH & FAMILY INITIATIVE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL RESOLVES as follows:
WHEREAS, in 2001 the City of San Rafael cosponsored the Summer of Peace,
a cooperative summer program serving youth and teens in the Canal
community; and
WHEREAS, over the past three years the program has served over 1000 Canal
community teens in recreational, social, and vocational programs; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael has agreed to be the fiscal agent and accept
donations, gifts and grant funds to be used in the operation of the program;
and
WHEREAS, the Canal Youth & Family Initiative has gained additional
resources and has continued to form new partnerships, and has garnered
input from the community through the Canal Youth & Family Council from
which the programs have been developed; and
WHEREAS, the Canal Youth & Family Initiative has become a means of
leveraging community support and involvement:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes a grant
application to the San Francisco Foundation for $17,500 to fund the
continuation of the canal youth & family initiative.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the
foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a
regular meeting of the Council of said City held on Monday, the 21 st day of
JUNE, 2004, by the following vote, to wit:
