A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF A CITY STREET FOR AN
INFORMATION AND SERVICES FAIR ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2004
(ALTO STREET FROM LARKSPUR STREET TO BELVEDERE STREET FROM THE
HOURS OF 8:00 A.M. TO 6:00 P.M.)
WHEREAS, the Canal Welcome Center and the Guatemala Consulate will be holding an
information and services fair which requires a temporary street closure on Sunday,
November 14, 2004; and
WHEREAS, the street that is requested to be closed is Alto Street from Larkspur Street to
Belvedere Street from the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, after reviewing plans for the event and the traffic patterns, City staff has
determined and recommended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian
and auto traffic, the above street in the Canal neighborhood should be temporarily closed
to through traffic for the date and times described above.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
1. That all of the above findings are true and correct;
2. That, pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety
and protection of persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City
Council hereby authorizes the temporary closure of the above listed street for
the date and time described above.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the
foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting
of the City Council of the City of San Rafael, held on Monday, November 1, 2004, by the
following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers: Heller, Miller and Mayor Boro
NOES: Councilmembers: None
ABSENT: Councilmembers: Cohen and Phillips
