CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOMITION QF 11PPRECIRTION
WHEREAS,
TO
EVELYN BUCHWITZ
m Buchwitz, building on her previous success as a planner for Vision North San Rafael,
i the San Rafael General Plan 2020 project in September 2000; and
m was in charge of the care and feeding of the 19 -member General Plan Steering Committee,
taff to the Document Subcommittee and the Quality of Life Task Group, providing everyone
quality background, agendas and summaries; and
Evelyn was the General Plan webmaster, setting the standard in ways to enable public access to
reports and to follow the progress of the development of the draft plan, and was the founder of the
Talk of the Town Toastmaster Club; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn is an event planner extraordinaire — be it for General Plan community meetings or for City
Hall activities such as the Bocce Ball tournaments, the Halloween skits, and the Community
Development Department's holiday parties; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn is legendary for her stamina on the production work for the Background Report, the Draft
EIR, the various draft plans, and the numerous planning reports, and on the 90 -hour, 750 mile
Paris -Brest -Paris bicycle race completed in 2003; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn has been cheerful and responsive in her interactions with City staff and members of the
public, earning the respect and affection of all; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn has completed her tour of duty with the San Rafael General Plan 2020 project, and has
accepted a position with the Marin County Local Agency Formation Commission where she will
continue her avocation for good planning on behalf of the Marin community.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of San Rafael on behalf of its
residents, hereby expresses its sincere appreciation to Evelyn for her contributions to the future of
San Rafael. here in 2020, people will, indeed, be wont to say, "We're living well in San Rafael."
