RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
APPROVING THE COMPLETED PLANS FOR THE PICKLEWEED
PARK COMMUNITY CENTER RENOVATION AND EXPANSION
PROJECT, AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO ADVERTISE FOR
CONSTRUCTION BIDS
WHEREAS, in 1999 and 2000, the Pickleweed Park Advisory Board conducted nine months of
intensive community outreach throughout the Canal neighborhood to determine program
priorities for the Pickleweed Park Community Center, collecting surveys, hosting community
meetings and in-home discussions, and developed a report outlining the results; and
WHEREAS, in the fall of 2000 the City of San Rafael hired Group 4 Architecture to develop a
conceptual plan for the building. City staff and members of the Canal community worked
together with Group 4 to design a facility that will accommodate the community -stated program
priorities; and
WHEREAS, on August 6, 2001, the City Council approved the conceptual plan for the
renovation and expansion of the Pickleweed Park Community Center; and
WHEREAS, City staff, City Officials, San Rafael business leaders and Canal residents have
worked tirelessly to raise the necessary funds to complete the project; and
WHEREAS, a final renovation and expansion plan has been developed and endorsed by the
Pickleweed Park Advisory Board, the Park and Recreation Commission, Design Review Board,
Planning Commission and the City Council; and
WHEREAS, Construction documents are complete and fundraising efforts will be completed in
the first quarter of 2005;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the San Rafael City Council approves the final
plan for the renovation and expansion of the Pickleweed Park Community Center, and authorizes
staff to advertise for project construction bids.

foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the
City Council of said City held on Monday, the 201h day of December, 2004 by the following vote,
