RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION

DAVID M. BERNARDI
BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San Rafael as follows:
Whereas, Dave started working for the City of San Rafael as a Junior Civil Engineer in 1970,
and
Whereas, Dave's leadership and management potential was realized with his appointment to
the Director of Public Works and City Engineer in 1981, and
Whereas, Dave has played an integral role in promoting positive working relations and
cooperation between the various Public Works Divisions, and
Whereas, Dave was the Incident Commander during the devastating floods of 1982 and won
the recognition and respect of everyone involved with his control and leadership of the situation, and
Whereas, during a reconnaissance flight in a helicopter to survey the damage of the floods Dave
personally learned the principal of the downward force produced by helicopter rotors as he dealt with the
effects of motion sickness, and
Whereas, Dave has approved the design and construction of over $100 million of capital projects
and encouraged the development of the City's GIS and other technical innovations, and
Whereas, Dave is a consummate professional who has mastered the ability to effectively respond
to difficult questions without reference to any facts whatsoever, and
Whereas; Dave is well respected by the City Council, his peers and everyone who works with
him due to his professionalism, dedication, and conscientiousness, and
Whereas; Dave is retiring after serving the community of San Rafael and its citizens for the
last 33 years.
Now, therefore, be it resolved, that the City of San Rafael City Council, and staff hereby
extend their gratitude to Dave Bernardi for his dedication, commitm , and contributions to the City
and wish him eve ucc`ess in the future.
