RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A PROPOSAL FROM ECONOLITE CONTROL
PRODUCTS FOR PROCUREMENT OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL DETECTION
CAMERAS IN THE AMOUNT OF $85,000.00 AND AUTHORIZING THE
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO EXECUTE THE PURCHASE
AGREEMENT.
WHEREAS, new technology for traffic control systems enables the City of
San Rafael to efficiently operate the traffic signal system; and
WHEREAS, the new technology will save City funds in long term; and
WHEREAS, the camera detection technology is more efficient and
reliable, especially in more congested and construction areas; and
WHEREAS, staff requested proposals from four major qualified vendors
for the supply of camera control equipment; and
WHEREAS, staff waived the necessity to publish the invitation for
proposals because the source of supply is not available in the local area and sufficient
vendors were on file to ensure adequate competition, and
WHEREAS, staff reviewed the proposals from all vendors based upon 12
objective criteria; and
WHEREAS, Econolite Control Products camera detection system
specifications were evaluated and recommended by professional staff.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
San Rafael that the traffic signal equipment provided by Econolite Control Products is
accepted and Council does hereby authorize the Public Works Director to enter into a
purchasing agreement with Econolite Control Products in a form approved by the City
Attorney and in an amount not to exceed $85,000.
I, JEANNE. M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that
the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of
the Council of said City on the 16th day of June, 2003, by the following vote, to wit:
