RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL, COUNTY
OF MARIN, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT AND EFFORTS
OF THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL NEEDED TO CONDUCT A DRIVING
UNDER THE INFLUENCE (DUI) TRAFFIC SAFETY PROGRAM
Whereas, DUI drivers are a significant traffic safety problem; and
Whereas, the California Highway Patrol has received grant funds from the California
Office of Traffic Safety to act as the lead agency for a multi -agency DUI enforcement
project entitled Removing Impaired Drivers Project AL0307; and
Whereas, the participating law enforcement agencies are the California Highway Patrol,
the San Rafael Police Department; and
Whereas, the City Council of the City of San Rafael has agreed that increasing traffic
law enforcement is an important element in improving public safety;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council expresses its strong
support for the project and authorizes the Mayor, the City Manager and the Police Chief
to execute for and on behalf of the City agreements with participating law enforcement
agencies as provided in the Office of Traffic Safety grant agreement.
I, Jeanne M. Leoncini, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing
resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the
San Rafael City Council meeting held on the 7th day of July, 2003 by the following vote,
to wit:
