WHEREAS, Karen Moore has been active in San Rafael as a resident of the Canal
Neighborhood and works for the Marin Education Fund. She is a member of
the Canal Healthy Neighborhoods leadership group and does volunteer work
with the Marin County Grassroots Leadership Network; and
WHEREAS, in February, 2002, Karen was appointed by the San Rafael City Council to
the San Rafael General Plan 2020 Steering Committee charged with
preparing a recommended draft General Plan for San Rafael; and
WHEREAS, Karen served as a representative to balance the various interests and act as a
visionary for the broader San Rafael community; and
WHEREAS, in addition to attending the Steering Committee meetings, Karen served on
the Outreach Subcommittee; and
WHEREAS, Karen dedicated 17 months to a community planning effort to create the
goals, policies and programs of San Rafael General Plan 2020.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council hereby express
sincere appreciation and gratitude to Karen Moore for her substantial contributions to prepare
the draft San Rafael General Plan 2020 and for her vision for the betterment of the San Rafael
community. Small wonder that we are wont to exclaim: "We are living well in San Rafael."
