CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOMITION OF 11PPRECIRTION
TO
ROGER SMITH
WHEREAS, Roger Smith is a Marin County native and works as a commercial real estate
broker in San Rafael. He served on the Downtown Advisory Group and on
the North San Rafael Vision Steering Committee; and
WHEREAS, in May, 2000, Roger was appointed by the San Rafael City Council to the
San Rafael General Plan 2020 Steering Committee charged with preparing a
recommended draft General Plan for San Rafael; and
WHEREAS, Roger served as a representative to balance the various interests and act as a
visionary for the broader San Rafael community; and
WHEREAS, in addition to attending the Steering Committee meetings, Roger served on
the Getting Around Town Task Group and Document Subcommittee as well
as Steering Committee co-chair; and
WHEREAS, Roger dedicated three years to a community planning effort to create the
goals, policies and programs of San Rafael General Plan 2020.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council hereby express
sincere appreciation and gratitude to Roger Smith for substantial contributions to prepare the
draft San Rafael General Plan 2020 and for his vision for the betterment of the San Rafael
community. Small wonder that we are wont to exclaim: "We are living well in San Rafael."
