A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY
CLOSURE OF CITY STREETS FOR THE SAN RAFAEL
CYCLING CLASSIC ON SATURDAY,
SEPTEMBER 13, 2003 FROM 7:30 A.M. TO 4:00 P.M.
WHEREAS, the San Rafael Cycling Classic necessitates the temporary closure of city streets as specified
below:
1. Fourth Street from Lootens to "A" St. (Expo Area) (7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
2. "A" Street from the parking entrance to Fourth Street (7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)
3. Fourth Street from "A" to "E" Street (8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)
4. Fifth Avenue from Court to "E" St. (8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)
5. "A" Street from Fourth Street to 5`h Avenue (8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)
6. "B" Street from 3rd to Mission St. (8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)
7. "C" Street from 3rd to Mission St. (8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)
8. "D" Street from 3rd to Fifth Avenue (8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)
WHEREAS, after reviewing plans for the event and the traffic patterns, City staff has determined and
recommended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian and auto traffic in the downtown
area, the above streets in the downtown area should be temporarily closed to through traffic for the dates and
times described above.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL HEREBY RESOLVES AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That all of the above findings are true and correct;
2. That, pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety and protection of
persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City Council hereby authorizes the temporary
closure of the above listed streets and parking lots for the dates and times described above.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCM, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of San Rafael, held on Monday, the fourth day of August, 2003, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers: Cohen, Heller, Miller, Phillips and Mayor Boro
NOES: Councilmembers: None
