HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 11460 (E911 Upgrade Funding)RESOLUTION NO. 11460 RESOLUTION OF THE SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING STAFF TO APPLY FOR FUNDING FROM AND EXECUTE CONTRACT WITH STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES FUNDS FOR THE E911 UPGRADE, AND TO PURCHASE MAPPING SOFTWARE FOR THE E911 UPGRADE FROM SUN RIDGE SYSTEMS, INC. Whereas, the State of California Department of General Services has made available $105,000 to the City of San Rafael in E911 Upgrade Funds; and, Whereas, the E911 Upgrade Funds may be spent to pay the costs associated with upgrading the City's E911 system, including mapping system software for integration into the City's Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD); and, Whereas, Sun Ridge Systems, Inc., the City's existing CAD software vendor, has mapping system software which will meet the City's specifications and restrictions for the E911 upgrade, and which will be compatible with and will fully integrate into the City's existing CAD software; and, Whereas, mapping system software available from other vendors will not be compatible with and will not fully integrate into the City's existing CAD software to provide the required E911 upgrade; and, Whereas, Municipal Code Section 2.55.070(D) allows the City Council to waive competitive bidding in instances of restrictions in specifications or necessary standardization; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the Mayor, the City Manager, the Assistant City Manager, the Fire Chief and Police Chief to execute for and on behalf of the City any actions necessary for the purpose of obtaining and accepting E911 Upgrade Funds from the State Department of General Services; and, IT IS FURTHER ORDERED AND RESOLVED that the City Council waives competitive bidding for the mapping system software related to the E911 Upgrade due to restrictions in specifications and necessary standardization pursuant to Municipal Code Section 2.55.070(D), and authorizes the City Manager to execute an Agreement with Sun Ridge Systems, Inc., in a form approved by the City Attorney, for the licensing and maintenance of such mapping system software in an amount not to exceed $43,513.56.
