A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY
CLOSURE OF CITY STREETS FOR THE YOUTH IN
ARTS ITALIAN STREET PAINTING FESTIVAL 2002
ON JUNE 8 - 99 2002
WHEREAS, the Youth in Arts Italian Street Painting Festival 2002 necessitates the temporary closure of
city streets as specified below:
1. Fifth Avenue from B Street to Court Street on Wednesday, June 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for
application of seal coat, and from 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6th imtil Monday, June 10th at 4:30 p.m.
2. Julia Street and A Street from Wednesday, June 5th at 9:00 a.m. until Monday, June 10th at 4:30 p.m.
3. In the event of rain, street closures will occur on the following week begiiuiing on Wednesday, June 12th.
WHEREAS, after reviewing plans for the event and the traffic patterns, City staff has determined and
recormmended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian and auto traffic in the downtown
area, the above streets in the Downtown area should be temporarily closed to through traffic for the dates and
times described above.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
1. That all of the above findings are true and correct;
2. That, pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety and protection of persons,
both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City Council hereby authorizes the temporary closure of the
above listed streets and parking lots for the dates and times described above.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of San Rafael, held on Monday, the fifteenth day of April, 2002, by the following vote, to wit:
