A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE URBAN
FORESTRY GRANT PROGRAM AS PROVIDED THROUGH PROPOSITION 12
WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of California, in cooperation with the State
Legislature, has enacted Proposition 12 which provides funds to the State of California and its
political subdivisions for urban forestry programs; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has been delegated the
responsibility for the administration of the program within the State of California, setting up
necessary procedures for application by local agencies and non-profit organizations under the
program; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the State Department of Forestry and Fire
Protection require the applicant to certify, by resolution, the approval of the application before
submission of said application to the State; and
WHEREAS, the applicant will enter into an agreement with the State of California to
complete a tree planting program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the San Rafael City Council that the
filing of an application for Proposition 12 tree planting grant program funds is approved; that
there will be funds available to maintain the trees once they are planted; that there are funds
available to plant the trees, if required; that the applicant will expend these grant funds before

March 1, 2005; and designates the Public Works Director as an agent for the City of San Rafael
to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents including, but not limited to,
applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests and so on which may be necessary to
complete the above referenced project.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the
foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the
Council of said City on Monday, the 17th day of June, 2002, by the following vote, to wit:
