San Rafael Design Review Board
WHEREAS, Anne Laird -Blanton was appointed to the San Rafael Design Review Board on
August 5, 2002, and served on the Design Review Board for four and a half years; and
WHEREAS, Anne served as Chair of the Design Review Board in 2004; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure the Design Review Board reviewed many important projects
which will positively impact the City for many decades including Redwood Village, Chapel
Cove, the Alma Via and Aldersley assisted living projects, Lincoln Mews, Capri
Condominiums, the Fasken office project, 4300 Redwood Highway, Toyota Marin, Team
GM dealership, 1203-1211 Lincoln condominiums, the Trinity Church subdivision, 171-181
Third Street, Extended Stay America hotel, the Dominican University Science Building, 820
D Street condominiums, 1867 Lincoln apartments, rehabilitation of the San Rafael
Improvement Club building, upgrades to the Marin Academy campus, expansion of the
Pickleweed Community Center and the Loch Lomond Marina Village, as well as countless
additions to single-family homes and commercial projects; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure on the Design Review Board Anne has also provided
insightful input on several long-range planning projects, including a rewrite of the Sign
Ordinance and the City's Design Guidelines; and
WHEREAS, Anne has also served as president of the San Francisco Chapter of the
American Institute of Architects, soliciting volunteer architects to assist on the General Plan
2020 Design Charrette; and
WHEREAS, Anne's participation on the Design Review Board was characterized by her
strong work ethic, an excellent ability to tactfully convey design direction to applicants, and
an interest in improving the physical qualities of the City of San Rafael;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City of
San Rafael hereby extend their sincere appreciation for the contribution Anne has made to
the betterment of the Community and its residents.
