PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF 11PPRECIRTION
TO
Dee Velazquez
-Employee. of the First Quarter of 2007
WHEREAS, Dee Velazquez began working for the City of San Rafael in 2003, as a Code
Enforcement Officer. Dee is assigned to the City's Proactive Apartment
Inspection Program. She has inspected over 1800 apartment units in the Canal,
and has been instrumental in improving the safety and quality of housing in this
neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Dee has taken on problems with illegal street vendors, signs, illegal dwelling
units, businesses violating conditions of approval, as well as substandard
housing; she's just not fond of complaints that involve rats; and
WHEREAS, Dee is always friendly and courteous with the public. She patiently listens to
each caller vent and then courteously explains the code. Dee is very dedicated
to her job and her never ending enthusiasm is amazing; and
WHEREAS, Dee routinely works with Community Policing, and the Building and Fire
Prevention Division and is an active participate in the Health & Safety
Committee to help coordinate enforcement efforts in a team approach; and
WHEREAS, Dee displays a genuine interest in the welfare of the community. For the past
two years, Dee has been the driving force to gain support from Community
Development staff during the holiday season to assist "Adopt a Family of
Marin", which is a community based organization that serves the needs of
families in Marin; and
WHEREAS, Dee actively promotes good relations with others. Dee continually offers to
assist co-workers with inspections and other office related functions. She never
says "she's too busy" or "that's not my job".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael
hereby designate Dee Velazquez as "Employee of the Quarter" for the first quarter of 2007 and express
sincere appreci pn�for hher dedic, n, professionalism and outst ding service to the City of San Rafael.
