By the City Transactions and Use Tax Committee (Measure "S"
Oversight Committee)
June 5, 2007
On June 5, 2007, the City Transactions and Use Tax Committee, commonly
referred to as the "Measure S Oversight Committee," met and reviewed the
General Fund Actual Budget figures for Fiscal Year 2005/2006 and the Annual
Budget figures for FY 2006/2007 current as of May 30, 2007, as reflected in the
attached table. The Committee finds that Measure S revenues were properly
used to maintain critical services.
The committee has also evaluated the proposed expenditures for FY 2007/2008
as reflected in the attached table. The committee finds that the proposed
budget meets Measure S standards. We note that the budget for FY 2007/2008
reflects a decrease of three employees in the police department. We are advised
that this decrease of staff is due to the termination of several grants and is not a
reflection of General Fund expenditures. Measure S relates only to the General
Fund and not to grant funding.
