the foregoing Charter Ordinance No, 1553 entitled:

ORDINANCE NO. 1553
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
RAFAEL, AMENDING SAN RAFAEL MUNICIPAL CODE
TITLE 21 CHAPTER 2.12, SECTIONS 2.12.041 AND 2.12.042 AND
ACCEPTING THE REQUIREMENTS OF SECTION 13522 OF THE
CALIFORNIA PENAL CODE RELATING TO THE TRAINING OF
LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: San Rafael Municipal Code Section
2.12.041 is amended to read as follows:
Police Training - STATE AID. The City of San
Rafael declares that it desires to qualify to receive aid
from the State of California under the provisions of Section
13522, Chapter 1 of Title 4, Part 4 of the California Penal
Code. (Ord. 725 § 1 1960)
San Rafael Municipal Code Section 2.12.042 is
amended to read as follows:
Police Training - STANDARDS MET. Pursuant to
California Penal Code Sections 13522 and 13510 of said
Chapter 1, the City of San Rafael, while receiving aid from
the State of California pursuant to said Chapter 1, will
adhere to the standards for recruitment and training
established by the California Commission on Peace Officers
Standards and Training (Ord. 725 § 2, 1960)
Pursuant to Section 13512, Chapter 1, the
Commission and its representatives may make such inquiries as
deemed appropriate by the Commission to ascertain that the
San Rafael Police Department's personnel adhere to standards
for selection and training established by the Commission on
Peace Officer Standards and Training.
SECTION 2. If any section, subsection, sentence,
clause or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to
be invalid, such holding or holdings shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions of the ordinance. The
Council declares that it would have passed this ordinance and
each section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase thereof,
irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections,
subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases be declared
invalid.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be published once
in full before its final passage in a newspaper of general
circulation, published and circulated in the City of San
Rafael, and shall be in full force and effect thirty (30)
days after its final passage.

a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of San
Rafael on the 7th day of November , 1988,
and ordered passed to print by the following vote, to wit:
