WHEREAS, Small Businesses make up an essential part of the economic health of the City of San
Rafael and contribute to the vibrancy of life in San Rafael; and
WHEREAS, Small Businesses help create a strong local economy, provide valuable products and
services to residents and businesses, and provide employment and leadership opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael supports the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic
Chamber of Commerce, and the San Rafael Business Improvement District, all of which are highly
successful resources, supporting and advocating for San Rafael Small Businesses; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael congratulates the Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year
nominees — 101 Surf Sports, City Carpets, CPI Real Estate Management & Development, Fenix, Italian
Street Painting Marin, Minto & Wilkie Insurance Agency, Northbay Biz Magazine, Perfect Timing
Personnel Services, Peter Levi Plumbing, and Sun First Solar; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael appreciates the valuable training and other resources provided by the
many Small Business support organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Chamber of
Commerce, the Business Improvement District, Marin Small Business Development Center (part of the
Small Business Administration), Working Solutions, Service Core of Retired Executives (SCORE),
Canal Alliance, Sparkpoint Marin, Marin Employment Connection, and education partners such
Dominican University and College of Marin; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael and the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce want to recognize the
contribution of Small Businesses to the San Rafael community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael
designate May 1-7, 2016 as Small Business Week and express sincere appreciation for the contributions
of the Chamber of Commerce, the Iispanic Chamber, the Business Improvement District, and all Small
Businesses within the City of San R fael.
