The members of the CAC were thanked for their hard work
and valuable input to the Redevelopment Agency throughout
the past year.
Chairman Mulryan also shared the outcome of the recent
City Council and Department Head Retreat, including the
vision of San Rafael and the mission statement.
Open discussion followed regarding the upcoming projects
and goals for the Redevelopment Agency. Items on the cur-
rent projects list and upcoming projects list included:
the proposed county/city library, the housing problem in
San Rafael (including social impacts of overcrowded housing
units such as in the Canal area), financing and budgeting
of new projects. It was suggested that the CAC take a
"Downtown Field Trip" together in the early evening after
the time changes and meet with property owners and retailers
to get a hands-on update of the current downtown situation.
A second Field Trip was suggested for the Canal area. Don
Swartz also suggested that the City request that CalTrans
change the Highway 101 offramp signage from "Central San
Rafael" to "Downtown San Rafael" in order to focus on the
true downtown offramp.
There being no further business, meeting was adjourned
at 9:45 p.m.
