TOPIC: Temporary Street Closure for 100Marin's Semi -Annual Fundraiser.
SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing a Temporary Street Closure for 1001Vlarin's Semi -Annual
Fundraiser Event, Wednesday September 28, 2016; A Street from Third Street to Fourth
Street, 1 pm — 10pm.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution
BACKGROUND:
1001VIarin is a local non-profit giving circle founded in 2015, by local accountants, bankers, lawyers,
management consultants, marketing and advertising professionals. The primary goal of 1001VIarin is to
increase fundraising for local non -profits serving Marin County. To date, 1001Vlarin has given away over
$100K to deserving Marin County non -profits, and is now the official philanthropic outreach arm of the
Marin Economic Forum.
This event will be a coordinated effort between the City's Economic Development event staff, the San
Rafael Police and Fire Departments, and the Department of Public Works.
ANALYSIS:
100Marin's semi-annual fundraising event on A Street, in partnership with local restaurant II Davide,
creates an opportunity for the City to support community fundraising efforts for local non -profits. City
staff recommends that City Council approve the temporary road closure for this fundraising effort.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH & MARKETING:
To be performed by the event producer and/or 100Marin's event committee.

RESOLUTION OF THE SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING A
TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURE FOR THE 100MARIN SEMI-ANNUAL
FUNDRAISER EVENT, WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 28, 2016; A STREET FROM
THIRD STREET TO FOURTH STREET,1 PM —10 PM
WHEREAS, 10OMarin's Semi -Annual Fundraiser Event necessitates the temporary closure of city
streets as specified below:
A Street between Third Street and Fourth Street from 1pm — l Opm, Wednesday September 28, 2016
The A Street Garage will be accessed from other entries and will remain open;
and
WHEREAS, after reviewing plans for the event and the traffic patterns, City staff has determined and
recommended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian and auto traffic in the
Downtown area, the below streets should be temporarily closed to through traffic for the dates and times
described below;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL HEREBY RESOLVES AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That all of the above findings are true and correct;
2. That, pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety and protection of
persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City Council hereby authorizes the temporary
closure of the above listed streets for the dates and times described above.

was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
San Rafael, held on Monday, the 15th of August, 2016, by the following vote, to wit:
