RESOLUTION NO. 10900
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO
ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION
NORTH BAY CHAPTER
WHEREAS, the Alzheimer's Association, North Bay Chapter, opened the Marin
County program office in San Rafael in 1984; and
WHEREAS, the Chapter provides a wide variety of free services and programs
to the thousands of Marin County families that suffer each day from
the effects of this dreaded disease; and
WHEREAS, the Chapter is responsible for raising all of the necessary funding
from the local community to support those critically needed
services and programs; and
WHEREAS, the Chapter held its 7`h annual Marin County Memory Walk on
September 23, 2000, attracting over 850 citizens and raising over
$182,000 to support the mission of the Alzheimer's Association to
increase public awareness of the disease, to provide support and
assistance for families, and to support research of the cause and
cure for Alzheimer's disease; and
WHEREAS, the 81h annual Marin County Memory Walk will be held on Saturday
morning, September 29`h, at The Village Shopping Center in Corte
Madera and is expected to draw over 1,000 citizens as participants.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City of
San Rafael hereby support the efforts of the Alzheimer's Association, North Bay
Chapter, to increase participation in the 8`h annual Marin County Memory Walk 2001 by
declaring the week of September 23`d as Alzheimer's Awareness Week.
