RESOLUTION OF THE SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL APPROVING THE USE
OF OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF
$275,000.00 FOR A TRAFFIC SAFETY IMPROVEMENT AND SERIOUS
TRAFFIC OFFENDER PROGRAM.
Whereas, the San Rafael Police Department has applied for $275,000.00 in
State of California, Office of Traffic Safety grant funds; and
Whereas, this grant money may be spent to hire two Police Officers which will
allow for the assignment of two additional Officers to the Traffic Unit,
and may be spent to purchase a radar advisory trailer; and
Whereas, the City of San Rafael is creating a Traffic Safety Improvement
Program along with a Serious Traffic Offender Program; and
Whereas, these programs will target individuals driving with
suspended/revoked licenses, unlicensed drivers, and individuals
driving under the influence so that fatal and injury collisions will
decrease; and
Whereas, the City Council must approve of the use of the grant funds for Office
Of Traffic Safety approval;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council approves the use
of $275,000.00 in Office of Traffic Safety grant funds to hire two
Police Officers and purchase a radar advisory trailer.

foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted
at a regular meeting of the San Rafael City Council meeting held on
the 5th day of October, 1998 by the following vote, to wit:
