A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF RATE REDUCTION OF 50% AT
PICRLEWEED COMMUNITY CENTER AND POLICIES REGARDING FREE USE OF THE
PICRLEWEED AND SAN RAFAEL COMMUNITY CENTERS AND THE TERRA LINDA
RECREATION CENTER FOR A TRIAL PERIOD FROM JANUARY 1, 1998 THROUGH
JULY 31, 1998.
WHEREAS, the City Council and staff have explored amending the
rental rate structure of Pickleweed Community Center and the use
policies of the City's community and recreation centers in a Study
Session held on October 20, 1997; and
WHEREAS, rate reductions of 500-. hold the potential to increase the
revenue generated and expand the diversity of use at Pickleweed
Community Center; and
WHEREAS, current use patterns show that space is periodically
available at the community and recreation centers; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to formalize the existing
practice of allowing qualified community groups free use of the
Pickleweed and San Rafael Community Centers and the Terra Linda
Recreation Center, subject to space availability and specified
qualification conditions listed in this Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
San Rafael that the following shall be implemented for a trial
period from January 1, 1998 through July 31, 1998:
1. Rate reductions of 50% at Pickleweed Community Center; and
2. Free use of Pickleweed and San Rafael Community Centers
and the Terra Linda Recreation Center, subject to the
following conditions:
A. The area in the center that is requested is available
during the center's normal operating hours.
B. The applicant is a community group or individual who
provides a service, at no charge, to the residents of the
neighborhood.
C. The applicant must complete a standard Facility Rental
Contract and abide by the Rental Contract requirements.
D. No group or individual may utilize this use category more
than twice a month or six total hours monthly.
E. Requests may not be made for dates more than 90 days from
the application date.
F. If use is requested for multiple dates or consecutive
months, there will be a three month contract length limit.
After the three month contract limit, the use will be reviewed
and/or renewed, based on availability and contract
fulfillment.

certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council
held on Monday, December 15, 1997 by the following vote, to wit:
