THE FAMILY OF HENRY "BABE" GHILOTTI
WHEREAS, the family of HENRY "BABE" GHILOTTI has donated
a 22 foot Colorado blue spruce tree to the City
of San Rafael; and
WHEREAS, this tree -has been planted in front of the Bank
of America in Courthouse Square for the enjoyment
of the residents of San Rafael; and
WHEREAS, this tree has been donated in honor of Babe, who
during his lifetime demonstrated his dedication
to the City of San Rafael through his community
service and his responsible representation of the
construction industry; and
WHEREAS, Babe was born in San Rafael, attended St. Raphael's
Parochial School, graduated from San Rafael High
School, and, after serving in the Army in World
War II, returned to San Rafael; and
WHEREAS, Babe, who in 1954 founded Shamrock Materials and,
along with Elmo Maggiora, established Maggiora and
Ghilotti, Inc., in 1964, was named Marin Builders
Exchange 1989 Construction Industry Man of the Year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the San Rafael City Council
does hereby accept with gratitude the Colorado blue
spruce tree donated by his family in remembrance
of HENRY "BABE" GHILOTTI and his many achievements
both in the community and in the construction
industry.
