HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 8304 (Falkirk Cultural Center)RESOLUTION NO. 8304 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING FALKIRK STAFF TO APPLY TO THE MARIN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR GRANT FUNDS IN SUPPORT OF FALKIRK MULTI- CULTURAL PROGRAMMING. WHEREAS, Falkirk Cultural Center provides the citizens of San Rafael with a rich and varied program of cultural activities; and WHEREAS, the Marin Community Foundation makes grants to support cultural programs of a multi -cultural nature; and WHEREAS, Falkirk staff wishes to expand multi -cultural programs, for all the citizens of San Rafael; and WHEREAS, The Cultural Affairs Commission has recommended that the staff apply to the Marin Community Foundation for grant funds in support of Falkirk multi -cultural programs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of San Rafael hereby authorizes Falkirk staff to apply to the Marin Community Foundation for grant funds in support of Falkirk multi -cultural programs. Last year 28 different multi -disciplinary events were produced by Falkirk for Marin audiences who enjoyed exhibitions, literary programs, concerts, workshops, lectures and docent tours. This grant seeks funding for general operating support of Falkirk's comprehensive multi -cultural programs with emphasis upon outreach for diverse participation at all levels. The funds sought, $50,000, will help pay salaries, education, exhibition and printing costs for Falkirk's programs. These programs directly provide opportunities for youth, stimulate the creation of new works, provide educational opportunities for the public, and have the overriding concern of multi -cultural representation and audience development. - Grant Application Cover Sheet Marin Community Foundation
