HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 6974 (Hwy 101 Corridor Program)RESOLUTION NO. 6974 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL INDICATING ACCEPTANCE OF THE PREFERRED ALTERNATIVE REPORT OF PHASE I OF THE HIGHWAY 101 CORRIDOR PROGRAM AS A VALID BASIS FOR PLAN PREPARATION AND RECOMMENDING PURSUIT OF FUNDING FOR PHASE 2 FOR DETAILED STUDIES, PLAN PREPARATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REVIEW WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael has participated in Phase I of the Highway 101 Corridor Study, by sending Councilmember Gary Frugoli as a representative to the 101 Corridor Action Committee as well as through certain staff efforts; and WHEREAS, the 101 Corridor Action Committee has, over the course of one year, reviewed technical work analyzing transportation problems experienced in the corridor and has provided direction in the preparation and selection of broad alternative programs for improvement of transportation in the corridor; and WHEREAS, the 101 Corridor Action Committee has recommended that Alternative IV, the Draft Preferred Alternative, be accepted by the corridor agencies as a valid proposal and basis for further analysis in the preparation of a plan and program for the corridor, known as Phase 2 of the Corridor Study; and WHEREAS, the San Francisco Foundation, prime funding source for the Phase 2 work, requires that agencies in the corridor show their support for the program prior to further funding. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the San Rafael City Council does hereby recognize Alternative IV is a valid basis for plan preparation in Phase 2, a plan which will come before this body upon completion for further action. FURTHERMORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the San Rafael City Council does hereby authorize the Mayor to sign a letter recommending that the San Francisco Foundation consider favorably the County of Marin's proposal to pursue Phase 2 of the study including additional analysis of the recommendations of Alternative IV, preparation of a plan and program for agency adoption, public hearings and necessary environmental impact review. -1- I', W , q . : i..
