A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN RAFAEL SETTING FEES PURSUANT TO TOW
CAR BUSINESS AND OPERATORS ORDINANCE AND
RESOLUTION 6083
WHEREAS, pursuant to Title 10, Chapter 10.84, Section 10.84.030
(6), the City Council of the City of San Rafael is authorized to set the rates
to be charged for towing services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 6083, the City Council is authorized
to set fees for Police rotation services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Title 10, Chapter 10.84, Section 10.84.030
(8), the City Council is authorized to set a fee for the processing of the
application provided for in Chapter 10.84.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
The City Council of the City of San Rafael hereby establishes the
following fees for towing services pursuant to Section 10.84.030 (6); and
Resolution 6083.
Effective October 1, 1981:
A. Fees for normal tow within five miles or fifteen minutes

B. TOW AWAY ZONE TOWS:
(i) $32.00 with no storage charge for that day
(ii) 8.00 additional for locked steering and/or transmission
(iii) 10.00 show up if no tow is made
C. STORAGE:
(i) $7.00 per calendar day,
(ii) $15.00 per calendar day,
one ton capacity
$6.00 per calendar day,
D. ADDITIONAL CHARGES:
inside or outside
inside or outside for vehicles over
inside or outside for motorcycles
(i) $20.00 per hour for extra man without a truck
(ii) Dolly -Tow $22.00 in addition to regular tow fee
(iii) $10.00 for night release of stored vehicle (6:00 p.m. to
8:00 a.m. and all day Sat., Sun. & legal holidays)
(iv) $3.00 per mile - over mileage outside City Limits
E. SPECIAL EQUIPMENT:
(i) Additional light duty truck $40.00 per hour
(ii) Medium duty tow truck (1-3 ton capacity) $55.00 per hour -
2 hour minimum
(iii) Heavy duty tow truck (over 3 ton capacity) $75.00 per hour -
2 hour minimum
(iv) 4 -wheel drive tow truck $45.00 per hour - 2 hour minimum
(v) Motorcycle towing - same as cars

RESOLUTION NO. 6186
Effective October 1, 1982 the fees will be increased by the Finance
Director based on changes in the August to August Bay Area All Urban Consumer
Price Index. Rates will be be rounded to the nearest dollar or half dollar.
The above fees are established as maximums, and lesser charges may be
levied as deemed appropriate by each tow operator. No additional fees may be
charged for towing services that are subject to the towing ordinance. Each
rotation tow operator is required to keep adequate business records of such
charges and fees, subject to Police Department review and examination.
Rates for road service calls at the request of the vehicle owner or
driver shall be negotiated between the tow operator and the vehicle owner or
driver.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Rafael
hereby sets the fee of $15.00 for the processing of the applications as set
forth in Chapter 10.84.030 (8).
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify
that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted
at a regular meeting of the Council of said City on the 21st day of
September 19 81, by the following vote, to wit:
