RESOLUTION NO. 5301
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING ALLOCATION OF FUNDS FROM
THE COUNTY ROAD FUND OF THE COUNTY OF MARIN PUR-
SUANT TO SECTION 2106 ET SEQUITUR OF THE STREETS
AND HIGHWAYS CODE
WHEREAS, the County of Marin and Cities within
the County have heretofore entered into an "Agreement for
Improvement of Urban Thoroughfare System", dated January 17,
1967, and
WHEREAS, the San Rafael Redevelopment Agency has
approved the construction of off-street parking facilities
on Second Street, Third Street,and Irwin Street in San Rafael,
and
WHEREAS, these parking facilities will replace the
existing on -street parking which will be removed in order to
provide an additional lane of traffic on said streets, and
WHEREAS, the need for said off-street parking
facilities and additional traffic lanes is generated by the
high traffic volumes said streets carry, and
WHEREAS, because said traffic is largely through
traffic, the neighboring communities will benefit from the
proposed improvements, and
WHEREAS, the City and the Redevelopment Agency
have analyzed the proposed project for capacity improvements
to determine what portion of the total project falls within
the confines of eligibility for Urban Thoroughfare Funds, and
WHEREAS, it was determined that the existence of
intersection cross -drainage structures along Second Street
prohibit full utilization of the existing roadway and therefore
must be relocated before an additional traffic lane can be
designated on said street, and

WHEREAS, the Marin County Urban Thoroughfare
Committee has approved the use of Urban Thoroughfare Funds
for said project involving reconstruction of the corners,
curbs, and drainage structures along Second Street at A
Street, C Street, and D Street, and
WHEREAS, the San Rafael Redevelopment Agency has
agreed to provide its share of matching funds for this work
amounting to $38,750.00;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of
San Rafael does request the County of Marin to allocate and
authorize to be paid to the City of San Rafael upon completion
of said construction, fifty percent (50%) of the cost of the
project or the sum of $38,750.00, whichever is the lesser sum.
I, MARION A. GRADY, Clerk of the City of San Rafael,
hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and
regularly introduced and adopted at a REGULAR meeting of the
Council of said City on MONDAY, the 6TH day of JUNE, 1977,
by the following vote, to -wit:
