RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
APPROVING FEDERAL AID URBAN PROJECT FOR SOUTHBOUND ON-
RAMP AT NORTH SAN PEDRO ROAD - HIGHWAY 101 AND REQUEST-
ING THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO
EXPEDITE THE PROJECT
WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation is proposing the
construction of an on-ramp to southbound Highway 101, from Merrydale Road at
the North San Pedro Road interchange, and;
WHEREAS, the project will involve the closure of the Merrydale Road
southbound on-ramp and the Las Gallinas Avenue at -grade junction, as well as
the restriping of traffic lanes and placement of traffic signals, and;
WHEREAS, the project has been estimated to cost $460,100; of which
$382,000 will be Federal money, $52,000 State money, $13,000 County Urban
Thoroughfare Funds, and $13,000 from City funds, and;
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael desires to continue to participate
in the Federal -Aid Urban Program for funding approved roadway and transportation
projects as authorized by the Federal Highway Act of 1973, and;
WHEREAS, the San Rafael City Council did, on March 1, 1976, approve
the Federal -Air Urban Program as recommended by the Marin County Urban System
Committee in which this project was designated, among others, and;
WHEREAS, the San Rafael Planning Commission, did on March 9, 1976,
appro� e this proposed project and the City's participation in the cost of signali-
zation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
San Rafael does hereby approve the Federal -Aid Urban Project for southbound on-
ramp at North San Pedro Road -Highway 101, as well as the City's participation in
the cost of signalization in the amount of $26,000.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Rafael
hereby requests the California Department of Transportation to do all in their
means to expedite this worthy project.
