RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
APPROVING THE FEDERAL AID URBAN SYSTEM IN THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
WHEREAS, highway improvements funded with Federal -Aid Urban funds
must be located on the Federal -Aid Urban system and;
WHEREAS, transit improvements funded under the provisions of
Section 142 of Title 23 United States Code must be within an urban area and;
WHEREAS, under the provisions of Chapter 1 of Title 23 of the Code
of Federal Regulations the Federal -Aid Urban system shall consist of routes
selected by the appropriate local officials with the concurrence of the State
Highway Department and;
WHEREAS, under the provisions of said Chapter the urban boundaries
shall be fixed by responsible State and local officials in cooperation with
each other and;
WHEREAS, said Chapter defines 'appropriate local officials' as
"the principal elected officials of the general purpose local government"
acting through the Metropolitan Planning Agency designated by the Governor and;
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission/Santa Cruz County
Transportation Agency is the Metropolitan Planning designated by the Governor and;
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended approval of the
Federal -Aid Urban system depicted on the maps attached as Exhibit A� as amended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
San Rafael does request approval of the Federal -Aid Urban system depicted on
said Exhibit A, as amended;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded
to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission/Santa Cruz County Transportation
Agency and to the California Department of Transportation for their approval.

certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced
and adopted at a Regular meeting of the Council of said
City on Monday the 24th day of February
