SUBJECT: Contract amendment with the County of Marin Community Development Agency
for child care services at Pickleweed Children's Center in the amount of $32,761.
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt resolution.
BACKGROUND: The Child Care Division has received funds for child care services from the
Community Development Block Grant Program since 1986. These funds are used to provide
subsidized child care for low income families in the Canal neighborhood.
ANALYSIS: The Child Care Division was awarded a Community Development Block Grant in
the sum of $32,761 in the 2009-2010 fiscal years. These funds add to the available pool of child
care subsidy dollars for eligible families. The funds will provide additional part time staff at
Pickleweed Children's Center that will allow the after school program to serve additional
elementary school-age children.
FISCAL IMPACT: Provides an additional $32,761 in revenue for staff salary at Pickleweed
Children's Center.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A CONTRACT AMENDMENT WITH THE
COUNTY OF MARIN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY FOR CHILD CARE
SERVICES FOR FISCAL YEAR 2009-2010 IN THE AMOUNT OF $32,761.
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael has been awarded a contract for child care
services at Pickleweed Children's Center from the Community Development Block
Grant Program in the amount of $32,761 for Fiscal Year 2009-2010; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approves and authorizes the Mayor to sign
designated contract documents with the County of Marin Community Development
Agency,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San
Rafael enters into this agreement with the Marin County Community Development
Agency to provide child care services in the amount of $32,761 for Fiscal Year 2009-
2010.
I, ESTHER C. BEIRNE, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the
foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular
meeting of the Council of said City on Monday, the 7th day of December, 2009.

City of San Rafael will use CDBG funds for staff salaries for child care center
serving low income families. The project will be completed June 2010.
The majority of clients will meet low income requirements established by the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development.
