BACKGROUND:
The second annual Marin County Triathlon will be held Sunday morning, November 1 st, 2009, beginning at 7:00 am,
at McNears Beach County Park in San Rafael. This is a not for profit event. ALL proceeds are being donated to
charity, which include The Sunny Hills Children's Center, Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Girls on the Run of the Bay
Area (gotrbayarea.org) and Jenny's Light Uermyslight.org).
Last year's event had an amazing response from the public and athletes. The event producer, Mark Liebert is a local
businessman and quite adept at creating a successful event. Last year's event raised over fifty -thousand dollars. He
has already contacted the residents in the Peacock Gap informing them of this year's event with almost one hundred
percent positive responses. Up to a thousand local and national athletes will participate, providing much needed
funds to the charities mentioned above.
Event hours are 7:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m.
Street to be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.:
Eastbound and Westbound San Pedro Road from Riviera Drive to Biscayne Drive
The proposal will be coordinated with the Police, Fire, and Public Works.

Staff and the Police Department are coordinating any City involvement with the event producer, the County and the
Highway Patrol. Since it is a very small part of the event course a minhmun number of PD will be required. The
producer will pay for all related Police Services. Cleanup is being handled by the event producers.
