RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL TO INITIATE ON ITS OWN MOTION
PROCEEDINGS TO ANNEX CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL:
1. That the Council of the City of San Rafael, for the reasons
hereinafter mentioned, proposes to initiate on its own motion, as soon
as it can legally do so, proceedings to annex to the City of San Rafael
all of the territory hereinafter described, as uninhabited territory
under provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939
as set forth.in Sections 35300 to 35326, inclusive, of the Government
Code of the State of California.
2. That the Council's reasons for proposing to initiate said
annexation proceedings are as follows: The annexation of the hereinafter
described territory now surrounded by San Rafael will contribute to the
orderly growth of the city, extend police and fire protection services,
insure the proper use of land in conformity with the overall zoning plan
of the city and put all portions of the city -owned wilderness park within
the city limits.
3. That the territory which the Council proposes to annex is
hereby identified as city preserve et al and consists of all that real
property situate in the County of Marin, State of California, as shown in
the attached legal descriptions and map.
4. The City Council of the City of San Rafael directs that a
Petition for Annexation be circulated to the owners of the property en-
compassed within the boundaries of the said proposed annexation.
5. That the City Manager of the City of San Rafael is hereby
directed to file with the Local Agency Formation Commission of the County
of Marin, State of California, this proposal to initiate proceedings to
annex the hereinabove described uninhabited territory to the City of San
Rafael, and to request approval by the Commission as provided for in the
Government Code.
