2. PRESENTATION OF MARIN COUNTY DIRECTORY OF INDUSTRY TO SAN RAFAEL REDEVELOPMENT
AGENCY (RA) - File R-140 #8 x (SRCC) 119
Elissa Giambiastiani, Executive Director, San Rafael Chamber of Commerce presented
to the Agency, Marin County's first manufacturing directory, The Marin County
Directory of Industry, which is part of the Business Attraction Program for the
City. She noted the Directory is the sort of material businesses looked for when
coming into the community.
3. PRESENTATION OF FUNDS RAISED FOR CANAL AREA STREET LIGHTING BY SAN RAFAEL CHAMBER OF
COMMERCE LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE TO SAN RAFAEL REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY (RA) - File R-140#8
x (SRCC) 4-4-6 x 11-4
Derek Knell, Canal area businessman and recent graduate of San Rafael Chamber of
Commerce Leadership Institute, presented money that was raised by residents of the
Canal for street lighting. Mr. Knell thanked the following people: John Young of
the Canal Community Alliance who was the community organizer who started the pro-
ject; Maria Lewis of the Canal Parents Community Council; Gabriella Ricci of the
Marin Income Property Association who brought people to the meetings and spoke of
the need for street lights; Jeff Franzini, Police Crime Prevention Officer; Nader
Mansourian, San Rafael Traffic Engineer; Wade White, Republic Electric; Dave
Bernardi, Public Works Director, and the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce Leadership
Institute Class of 1993/94 who made raising funds for the Canal street lights its

class project and by staffing a booth at the Canal Community Lions Multicultural
Festival, Alex Escobedo of El Continental Newspaper; Jack Eitelgeorge of PGE; Gary
Frye of Frye Architects; Joe Nemeth of Redwood Bank; Robin Berry of Nelson Personnel
Services; Terra Rice, student and Paul Sloan, San Rafael attorney. Most important,
he thanked the kids and parents and people of the Canal neighborhood who played the
ring -toss game raising $97 in quarters.
Chairman Boro, on behalf of the Redevelopment Agency, thanked Mr. Knell and the
Leadership Class.
