HomeMy WebLinkAboutDRB 2013-05-07 #3Community Development Department ✓ "7j MEMORANDUM DATE: May 7, 2013 TO: Design Review Board . r77'N FROM: Kraig Tambornini, Senior Plann'r SUBJECT: 220 Shaver Street Project Review of Colors On May 1 st week staff asked the Board to review the revised paint -out of color options for walls and parapet for the renovated 220 Shaver Street AT&T project, that have relocated with larger samples to the south wall of the building addition. The Planning Commission approved ED11- 091 on July 24, 2012, with the following condition recommended by the Board: 14. Building colors shall be implemented to match the rendering on sheet A2.1, toned down with a more matte palette and eliminating the prior proposed bright white color 15. Prior to occupancy, a partial paint -out of the building colors shall be provided before the final building colors are implemented for the entire project, in order to verify that it achieves the intent of the rendering. Staff shall be notified when the paint -out is completed in order to provide staff and Board members time to view the paint -out in the field and recommend any further refinements. The applicant was asked to have the metal screen and awning in place. However, these items are not ready for installation. The main body, column and parapet color choices and options have been installed in hopes that the Board can identify satisfactory color options. The builder would like to finish the exterior building colors and finishes before installing the blue awning and metal Staff agreed to consider the revised display on-site in an effort to meet the project construction schedule. Staff has scheduled this for discussion to allow this to be formally discussed, and determine if there is a consensus of opinion on choices. A color board with the samples of the revised colors as installed in the field has been requested, to facilitate this discussion. Staff will provide the original colors and materials board, rendering, and new color samples at the hearing. Thank you.
