Larry Paul moved and Don Blayney, Alternate seconded to approve Minutes as presented. The vote is
as follows:

2. 995 Pt San Pedro Rd (Fire Station #55) – Request for an Environmental and Design Review
Permit to renovate the existing fire station, including: 1) rebuilding of the living quarters
portion of the building, 2) changing roof pitch to a sloped roof over the living area portion
of the building; 3) seismically upgrading the equipment bay portion of the building, 4)
adding 724 sq ft addition to the building, and 5) incorporating new exterior materials and
colors on the entire building; APN: 185-061-04; Public/Quasi Public (P/QP) District; City of
San Rafael, owner/applicant; File No.: ED19-070. Project Planner: Raffi Boloyan

Larry Paul moved and Don Blayney, Alternate seconded to recommend approval of the project with the
following consensus recommendations:
• Exterior colors and finishes on the emergency generator enclosure should match those on the fire
station.
• The landscaping proposed along the northeast portion of the driveway entrance should be
expanded to the southwest portion of the driveway.
• The existing lawn along the Pt. San Pedro Rd. frontage should be renovated as much as
possible.
• Replace the freeze-susceptible Lantana plant species with an alternative, more appropriate plant
species.
• Signage for the site should match signage (size, illumination and design) for the other fire
stations.
