$19000.00 - $4,000.00 depending on the regulation for the area. That cost is
a drop in the bucket compared the additional revenue received from sober
living residents starting at $500.00 - $4,000.00 shared bedrooms. Only
greed and power have drawn attention to the sober living industry, not
discrimination. really, does anybody care who is renting the house next
door if they are doing the right thing? If they were doing the right thing
"they" would also have gone unnoticed and again nobody would have ever
minded to bother. Veterans, seniors, students, etc are not under the same fire
as the MTO claims when they are doing the right thing because they are un-
noticed when doing the right thing.
Obtaining regulation is simply a "safe guard" to protect the individuals
living in a home, residents in the surrounding neighborhood, and the
property itself. Sober living board members, administrators, landlords, etc
are opposed to any regulation in an effort to continue their shenanigans that
have drawn attention to themselves in more recent times. Money, greed, and
power at its worse is what I have seen proliferate in a once heart throttled
industry. My sober living, SAFE MOUSE, has been stated as being the
"bright spot" in the community. We do the right thing. We do not
overcrowd, over charge, turn garages into anything other than parking places
for cars, use standard legal paperwork, etc.
Iffhat's wrong with doing the right thing? The MTO is now attempting to
draw Veterans, Seniors, Students, etc unjustrfrably h to their _iglft. I say
shame on you INTO. It's so sir_rrpie, just do the -right thing and ever --body
would be protected and profits made appropriately when deserved.
SAFE HOUSE,
Brian Smith
