HomeMy WebLinkAboutBicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee 2020-04-07 Minutes City of San Rafael Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) Wednesday April 7, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. Virtual Meeting via Zoom Minutes Present: Chair Powers Member Allison Member Mooney Member Bergman Member Hagerty Member Coyne, Alternate Youth Member Nielsen Absent: Member Solomon 1. Call to Order Chair Powers called the meeting to order at 6:04 pm. 2. Approval of meeting minutes Minutes for regular February 6, 2020 meeting approved. 3. Public Comments for Items not on Agenda Craig Murray: Earth Day Clean up Saturday April 24, 2021 4. Remembering Jimmy Geraghty Alternate Member Jimmy Geraghty passed away at the end of March 2021. Staff took a moment to remember him for his contributions to the community. Committee members shared some of their favorite memories of Jimmy. Chair Powers invited public comment. Speakers: Jean Severinghaus, Craig Murray, Patrick Seidler There being no further comment, Chair Powers closed the public comment 5. North-South Greenway Warren Wells, Marin County Bicycle Coalition (MCBC) and Patrick Seidler, Transportation Alternatives for Marin (TAM) presented about the gap closure in the North-South Greenway from Los Ranchitos to the top of the Puerto Suello pathway. Warren and Patrick responded to questions from Committee members. Chair Powers invited public comment. Speakers: Don Magdanz, Jean Severinghaus, Dave Rhoads, Lisa Merigian There being no further comment, Chair Powers closed the public comment. Committee members discussed the draft letter of support that was prepared. Youth Member Nielsen made a motion to approve the submittal of a letter City Council. Member Hagerty seconded. AYES: Members: Allison, Bergman, Coyne, Hagerty, Mooney, Nielsen & Chair Powers NOTES: Members: None ABSENT: Members: Solomon 6. San Rafael Transit Center Lauren Davini, Traffic Engineer, presented a brief update on the transit center alternatives. Committee members provided feedback on the different alternatives. There was a general concern about congestion with the Gateway and Whistlestop alternatives. There was concern about safety with the Under the Freeway alternative. Chair Powers invited public comment. Speakers: Don Magdanz, Jean Severinghaus, Dave Rhoads, Lisa Merigian, Patrick Seidler, Warren Wells Member Hagerty made a motion to approve the submittal of a letter of support to City Council urging them to consider the pedestrian and bicycle connections in any alternative and with more specific language that Member Bergman will provide. Member Coyne seconded. AYES: Members: Allison, Bergman, Coyne, Hagerty, Mooney, Nielsen & Chair Powers NOTES: Members: None ABSENT: Members: Solomon 7. Possible future agenda items Chair Powers requesting discussion of the BPAC work plan 8.
