Welcome/ Roll Call
Chair Plante called the meeting to order at 4:55 PM. Project manager Miller took roll call and reviewed
the agenda. Miller provided an overview of the tour route and discussed the logistics for the tour.
Workbooks were distributed to all those present.
Acceptance of Meeting Summary
This was deferred to the July meeting.

There were no comments received.
BUS TOUR
Members of the Committee departed City Hall at 5:10 PM on a General Plan Bus Tour of San Rafael.
The first part of the tour route included the Andersen/ Woodland corridor, Marin Square Shopping
Center, the Francisco East Corridor, Shoreline Center, Baypoint Lagoon, and Canalways. Participants
disembarked at the Al Boro Center (Pickleweed Park) where Vice Chair Omar Carrera and Pickleweed
Advisory Board representative Jenny Broering provided an overview of issues in the Canal community.
The tour continued through the Canal neighborhood, along Francisco (East) to Grand, and then out Point
San Pedro Road to Loch Lomond Marina and onward to the Peacock Gap area. The tour returned via
Point San Pedro Road, went north to Dominican University, and continued north to the Civic Center area.
The second point of disembarkation was the Northgate Mall. Representatives from Merlone-Geier (Mall
owners) provided Committee members with a status report on the property, and took questions from the
group. The group continued to Terra Linda Recreation Center for a meal break.

The next leg of the tour included the Terra Linda / Santa Margarita areas, Los Gamos Drive, Smith Ranch
Road, the Contempo Mobile Home community, and the Redwood Highway Corridor. The final leg
crossed the Merrydale overcrossing and headed south on Los Ranchitos/ Lincoln, returning to Mission
Avenue and turning right to return to City Hall. The portion of the tour encompassing the Bettini Transit
Center and 3rd Street was skipped in the interest of time. Committee members were encouraged to return
their workbooks so that staff could compile their feedback on what was observed.
The buses returned to City Hall at 8.30 PM. The meeting adjourned at that time.
