SAN RAFAEL, CALIFORNIA PARK TOUR WILL THEN TRAVEL TO ALBERT PARK TENNIS COURTS, BOYD PARK, AND CONCLUDE AT FREITAS PARK AGENDA CALL TO ORDER MINUTES 1. Due to the ‘field trip’ format of this meeting, action on the approval of regular meeting minutes of April 18, 2024 will be postponed to the June meeting. OPEN TIME FOR PUBLIC EXPRESSION The public is welcome to address the Commission at this time on matters not on the agenda that are within its jurisdiction. Comments may be no longer than three minutes and should be respectful to the community. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS 2. Special Presentations: a. NA OTHER AGENDA ITEMS If necessary to ensure completion of the following items, the Chairperson may establish time limits for the presentations by individual speakers. 3. Other Agenda Items: a. Parks Tour: Park and Recreation Commissioners will be guided on an approximately 1.5 hour tour of three park locations. The tour will begin at the San Rafael Community Center at 6pm. The group will walk to the Albert Park Tennis Courts, then travel to Boyd Park at approximately 6:30pm. The group will travel to Freitas Park at approximately 7:00pm, and the tour will conclude at approximately 7:30pm. STAFF LIAISON REPORT 4. Due to the ‘field trip’ format of this meeting, the staff liaison report will be postponed to the September meeting. COMMISSIONER REPORTS 5. Due to the ‘field trip’ format of this meeting, Commissioner Reports will be postponed to the September meeting. ADJOURNMENT Any records relating to an agenda item, received by a majority or more of the Commission less than 72 hours before the meeting, shall be available for inspection online and in the San Rafael Community Center, 618 B St., San Rafael, CA 94901 placed with other agenda-related materials on the table in front of the San Rafael Community Center prior to the meeting. PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION AGENDA REPORT May 16, 2024 Item #3a TITLE: TOUR OF ALBERT PARK, BOYD PARK, AND FREITAS PARK RECOMMENDATION Commissioners are encouraged to participate in an optional Parks Tour to Albert Park, Boyd Park, and Freitas Park. BACKGROUND The purpose of this park tour is to familiarize Park and Recreation Commissioners with three of the parks identified in the Park and Recreation Master Plan that have near-term priority projects. Commissioners will travel to Albert Park, Boyd Park, and Freitas Park. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss a range of topics related to each park, and there will be an emphasis on the Tennis Court facilities at Albert Park and Freitas Park. At each location, Commissioners will have an opportunity to see the current condition of the park and learn about recommended priority projects. The tour will begin at Albert Park (618 B St.), then commissioners will travel to Boyd Park (341 Laurel Pl), and Freitas Park (371 Montecillo Rd). A map of the tour locations is included in Attachment 1. FISCAL IMPACT: None.
