HomeMy WebLinkAboutCD Presentation of a Proclamation to Jack Robertson for Eight Years of Service on the Planning CommissionCity of San Rafael Proclamation Presented to Jack Robertson, Planning Commissioner WHEREAS, Jack Robertson began his role with the City of San Rafael Planning Commission in July 2011 and served for eight years, until June 2019; and WHEREAS, in 2014, Jack served as Chair of the Planning Commission. As Chair, Jack was well known for his efficient management of meetings and gracious approach to facilitating public participation during public hearings; and WHEREAS, Jack contributed to the long-range planning of the City through his participation in the review and action of the 2011 update to the Housing Element; General Plan 10-year update, the Climate Change Action Plan 2030 and General Plan 2020 Sustainability Element; the Downtown Station Area Plan and the Civic Center Station Area Plan; and comprehensive updates of and amendments to the City’s Zoning Ordinance; and WHEREAS, during his tenure the Planning Commission reviewed numerous important community development projects which will positively impact the City for many decades including: SR Airport Rec facility, Northgate Mall renovations, Marin Academy Science Center, Target Store at 125 Shoreline Parkway, new Public Safety Facility on 5th Ave, New Sonnen/VW building at 700 Francisco Blvd, 809 B St residential development, and 1201 Fifth Street Hotel project, as well as numerous other projects; and WHEREAS, Jack was an excellent listener and used his deep understanding of the development process to help the City evaluate proposals and find compromises. WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael is privileged, honored, and proud to have had such an exceptional volunteer as Jack Robertson serving in the critical role of Planning Commissioner. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kate Colin, Mayor Pro Tem of San Rafael, do hereby proclaim my sincere appreciation to Jack Robertson for being serving as a Planning Commissioners for eight years, and for his important contributions and community service to the City of San Rafael. _______________________________________ Kate Colin Mayor Pro Tem
